and 1100 kilometers of valleys and their tributaries, and 175,000 vacant plots of land within the developed area. The process will utilize selected types of local trees that are suitable for the city of Riyadh. However, this afforestation process will not only provide a green appearance to the city, but also contribute to the disposal of wastewater by treating it and using it for irrigating the planted areas.
The results of this project will stimulate the economic cycle and lead to the development of legislation related to urban regulations, in order to promote afforestation in public and private projects. As a result, the Kingdom will reap a range of important benefits in terms of the environment, economy, and Saudi citizens. The project will reduce temperatures by 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius in afforested areas and decrease temperatures in densely planted areas by 8 to 15 degrees Celsius. This will improve air quality by reducing carbon dioxide levels by 3 to 6 percent and increasing oxygen and humidity levels in the air, as well as reducing dust levels.
In 2018, the establishment of the Qiddiya project was announced on a vast area of 334 square kilometers in Riyadh. The project's cost is estimated at around 8 billion dollars since the beginning of its implementation in early 2019.
Overall, the Qiddiya project will become a pioneer in Saudi entertainment projects and home to more than 300 recreational and educational facilities centered around five main themes: parks and destinations, sports and fitness, nature and environment, culture and art, and movement and mobility. The parks and recreational areas are inspired by the American model in design. It is known so far that the project will include the Falling Tower, which is one of the most entertaining and attractive amusement park facilities, and the longest roller coaster in the world, which will set records globally.
Furthermore, the e-games and e-sports in Qiddiya are not only for professional e-sports players but for all electronic game enthusiasts of all ages and categories. It is an area that transforms the world of electronic games and sports into a tangible reality. This area will be the place where the gaming and e-sports community truly feels a sense of belonging.
