The museums in Riyadh are the ideal tourist attraction to explore the history and culture of the city and to learn about its diverse archaeological collections. We present to you the most famous museums in Riyadh.

1- The Saudi National Museum

One of the best museums in Riyadh to immerse yourself in Saudi heritage. The Saudi National Museum is also known as the historical center of King Abdulaziz, making it the first destination for explorers and enthusiasts, suitable for family activities.

It is the first official cultural museum in the Kingdom, and after 24 years, it remains the top destination for history lovers. The art and culture exhibition includes 8 main halls, each offering a unique learning and cultural experience, revolving around cultural, scientific, or historical themes ranging from the beginnings of humanity to Islam and the Saudi state.

The entrance fee is 10 Saudi Riyals.
Monday to Wednesday from 9 am to 7 pm,
Thursday from 9 am to 10 pm,

2- Saqer Al Jazeera Aviation Museum

One of the most unique museums in Riyadh. This museum showcases the historical development of the Royal Saudi Air Force from its inception to the present day. Visitors can view real aircraft and small models of some planes, along with a collection of weapons such as missiles, bombs, uniforms, and military clothing.

Friday - Saturday from 4 pm to 9 pm,
Sunday - Wednesday from 9 am to 12 pm

3- Saudi Contemporary Art Museum

One of the new museums in Riyadh. It was opened by the Ministry of Culture and the Museum Authority in Jax neighborhood in November 2023, to be a meeting point for the artistic community in the capital and the kingdom.

The Saudi Museum focuses on three annual events held within exhibitions featuring different contemporary themes. These exhibitions serve as a unique point compared to other museums worldwide that display permanent art throughout the year, accompanied by cultural and artistic events during each exhibition.


4- The Square Palace

It is the former residence of the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, one of the most famous places associated with the king's name. Its construction period between 1936 and 1945 marked the first major expansion of Riyadh outside the walls of the old city. It was a revolutionary milestone in Saudi Arabia's development, as it became the first building in the kingdom to use electricity upon its completion. As the king aged and faced difficulty climbing the palace stairs alone, the first elevator in the kingdom was installed, which still stands to this day.

The Square Palace has been converted into a museum honoring King Abdulaziz, housing many of his personal artifacts, including the Rolls Royce car gifted to him by Winston Churchill in 1945.

5- Cristiano Ronaldo Museum

Design of the CR7 museum dedicated to Al-Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo in a modern way, highlighting the player's personality and life in football, as well as the most important awards and titles he has received during his professional career.

The Cristiano Ronaldo museum was opened in Riyadh in the Boulevard City area, launched as the CR7 Experience as part of Riyadh Season 2023 events. The museum welcomes you to a tour through the global player's legacy and the star of Al-Nassr club, Cristiano Ronaldo, by discovering his achievements in football.

The ticket price for the Cristiano Ronaldo museum in Riyadh Season starts from 35 Saudi Riyals and is available through the official Riyadh Season app.

Open daily from 4:00 PM to midnight at Boulevard City.

6- The Antiquities Museum

In mentioning the most famous museums in Riyadh, it is necessary to mention the Antiquities Museum, which was established inside King Saud University in Riyadh as a place to display some ancient scientific collections and archaeological pieces acquired through scientific research expeditions or through donations and gifts to be displayed to the students of the Archaeology Department at the university. The museum consists of two sections: the first section is dedicated to the archaeological pieces found in Al-Faw Village, while the second section houses some of the archaeological pieces acquired from the Islamic Zabid.

The Antiquities Museum is located in the College of Tourism and Antiquities building at King Saud University in Riyadh on the ground floor.

7- Historical Diriyah Museum

This museum opened its doors in December 2022 to welcome visitors to the historical land. Diriyah District is distinguished by its rich history in the kingdom, narrating the history of Diriyah as the starting point for the Saudi state in 1727. In 2010, the district was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Diriyah holds a rich history for the kingdom, serving as its first capital in 1744. It bears the historical traces of the region and the development witnessed in its lands and buildings.

Despite the modifications to the dress code laws, Saudi Arabia remains vigilant about public etiquette laws that are advisable to know before traveling to the kingdom.

Violating these laws can result in fines ranging from 50 to 3000 Saudi riyals.

The best times to visit Riyadh are at the end of the year from November to March, where the weather is beautiful compared to the summer when temperatures can reach 49 degrees Celsius.

Riyadh is a safe city. There is no fear of terrorism, harassment, or serious crimes. Even theft and begging are not common among tourists.

The language is Arabic, but you can find English speakers everywhere.

Most places accept payment by MasterCard and Visa, and transactions are in the local currency, the Saudi Riyal. There are several currency exchange offices at the airport and in the city, such as Western Union and banks.
